" I do not know anything about this case or the people involved, but I am intimately familiar with domestic violence investigations. For "taxpayer" to say Williamson County only arrests those where "clear evidence exists" shows their ignorance of domestic investigations. Normally domestic violence involves both parties using violence, one normally an aggresor, and the other using legally justifiable force to protect themselves. pcww26 wants to argue there is no reason to place your hands on another person, but Illinois law provides for people to use force against another to defend themselves from an attack. The deputies show up, get statements, review evidence, (quite often both parties have injuries), and attempt to see if a battery has been committed (or if injuries are from a legal use of force), then have to make a decision about whether or not to make an arrest, knowing if they fail to do so and someone becomes injured after they leave that they can then be held liable. Normally the only witnesses are those involved. Normally one person is lying while the other is telling the truth. Sometimes both are lying. Once in a blue moon both are truthful. No other regular police investigation is more fraught with the possibility of arresting the wrong person than domestic violence cases.
I do find it interesting how newspapers somehow find it newsworthy to report cases of no notoriety, before any conviction, the printing of which seems to do nothing but harm a person professionally, and personally. "

" First, I hope the Southern is just as quick to print the "story" when Dr.McCain is cleared. Secondly, victims usually do not attract more attention to themselves. The fact that you are trying to smear Dr. McCain online just goes to show you aren't too "terrified and vicitimized." Shame on you girls for manipulating the system. I believe you have erred this time and made your lies way too public. The justice system will prevail and show the world just the type of people you really are. "

" Williamson County has set a standard for many years of arresting only those subjects that there is clear evidence present at the time of initial investigation to hold up in court later for a conviction, otherwise an arrest will wait untill a ongoing investigation reveals more evidence. Thus, I am sorry, but from where I sit, I suggest no matter how much you may like the guy, it is likely he felt entitled (for what ever reason) to put his hands on her to control her, and that is a big, big NO NO now days. Most people know physicians have problems with entitlement issues anyway, and add in any other contributing factors (you fill in the blanks) and there you go. If it is true that this guy really does have a history of domestic problemsm lets hope the court is made aware of this, and maybe it can help to be a bigger stick to get him some help. Williamson county used to have a domestic violence treatment program for offenders that was pretty successfuy, maybe there is still something like that out there? What ever the options, if the evidence points to DV espically if there is a pattern of past history, lets hope no deals are cut because of who he is, or what powers are at play, and that public safety, and victim rights are protected! " pcww26 knows the results of the previous allegations. Had he notified police first the situation would now be reversed. Only we would have seen it in Court Reports or heard through gossip instead of in an article in the local paper which is only due to his position. I believe that Doc McCain will continue to be the caring physician he has always been. "

" Irregardless of each side's individual telling of the story, there are some things that will remain factual, such as the photographic documentation and hopefully she got medical documentation. All we can do is put our faith in God and the judicial system to see that this matter is handled. But only these two individuals will truely know what transpired that night. And if he did hold her life in his hands I hope that he is held accountable. "

" We should all be aware there are always two sides to every story, as we all can obviously tell we are reading only 1 side at this time.Doc Mccain is a great md and person.I DO NOT believe in any manner Doc Mccain needs a "code of conduct class" mayb the third party involved should be the one takeing a "code of conduct class". If the second party was not lead by the third partys leash mayb the truth could come out!!! "

" The 2nd side of this story does not really matter when you think of the police documination that supports him hand his hands around the victims neck! There is NO reason to ever lay your hands on someone else's body. Maybe we could have a code of coduct class for all humans as they do for the Medical Community. "
