This year's Fall Fest theme is "Illinois Proud" and will focus on the state’s bicentennial. 2018 is Illinois’ 200th birthday and Mt. Vernon’s Fall Fest will participate as an official bicentennial event for the state. Illinois officially became a state on Dec. 3, 1818, and events are being held throughout the year, in cities across the state, to celebrate. The Illinois bicentennial is an opportunity to recognize the widespread impact Illinois’ residents have made and celebrate the state’s rich history and culture.
