Carbondale Community Arts, in partnership the Southern Illinois University’s McLeod Summer Playhouse, is inviting local high school students to audition for the 2018 All Southern High School Theatre Project (ASHSTP) production of "Once Upon a Mattress," a musical re-telling of “The Princess and the Pea," according to a news release from CCA.

ASHSTP is an intensive musical theater day-camp for youth interested in acting, singing, dance and theatrical workshops. Students work with professional directors to study all aspects of musical theater performance. Workshop participants gain skills in vocal training, choreography and dramaturgy.

The auditions will be March 31 at Altgeld Hall, Room 116, at SIUC. Check-in is at 9:30 a.m., with auditions beginning at 10.

Auditions are open to high-school aged students aged 13 to 18 or those who have just completed grades eight through 12. You do not need musical theater experience to audition.

To learn what to prepare for your auditions, visit carbondalearts.org. If you are unable to attend auditions on March 31, email info@carbondalearts.org or call 618-457-5100 to make alternative arrangements.
