Aspiring artists are invited to learn the wax resist watercolor technique at a class at the Little Egypt Arts Center.

The class, which is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, will be taught by Janet G. Bixler, and will teach a batik-like process done on rice paper, using wax as a resist. No previous watercolor experience is necessary. The class costs $25 for Little Egypt Arts Association members and $40 for nonmembers.

Some materials will be provided, but students are asked to bring watercolors, old brushes, watercolor brushes, waterproof pens, newspapers, paper towels, a hair dryer, a smooth board and images students may wish to trace.

Call 618-998-8530 to register for the class. Payment will be accepted on the day of the class.

The LEAA is also selling smoked pork butts for $30 each as a fundraiser; the deadline to order is Aug. 23. To order, call 618-998-8530 from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Tuesdays, or leave a message any time.
