The Shawnee Hills Arts Council is looking to exhibit visual art alongside original poems.
The exhibit, "POAINTRY: The Collision of Two Worlds,” will open on May 22, 2017 and end on June 17, 2017 with a closing reception.
The Arts Council will start with artists’ visual works, and then ask poets to create companion pieces.
Organizers are asking artists to submit a piece, which will be auctioned off at the closing reception. Visual art should be delivered to the Anna Arts Center no later than March 15, along with a photo and biography of the artist.
Organizers ask poets to choose one of the visual art pieces submitted and write a poem, which will be auctioned off with the matching visual art at the closing reception. Poetry should be delivered by April 25, along with a photo and biography of the writer.
A book will also be published featuring each art-poem pair to sell during the exhibit. Proceeds will go toward the Shawnee Hills Arts Council’s programs and maintenance of the buildings.
