A new production at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will take the audience inside Andy Warhol's storied studio space for an exploration of queer identities and friendship.
The production will be staged at the Marion Kleinau Theatre in the SIU Communications Building. Showtimes are 8 p.m. April 26 to 28. Tickets are $7 or $5 for students.
"The Factory" was written by Alex Davenport and Colin Whitworth, and is co-directed by the writers along with Johnny Gray. The show centers on Warhol's creation of Truman Capote's portrait, and uses a mix of personal narrative and imagined historiography to investigate the performers' identities as queer artists and friends through their identification with real-life friends Warhol and Capote. The performance will incorporate writing, performance, installation and art.
Individuals with disabilities are welcome and are asked to call 618-453-5738 to request accommodations.
