CARBONDALE — The Stage Company presents “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” starting Friday, Feb. 14 in the Varsity Center for the Arts, 418 S. Illinois Ave.
The play, written by Neil Simon and directed by Lee Brackett, will be presented Feb. 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23 with performances on Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the presentations Sunday starting at 2 p.m.
To help celebrate the sweetheart season, a cash bar will be available including champagne and a chocolate fountain with strawberries before each performance and during intermission.
A special Valentine’s Day surprise will be available only on opening night, Feb. 14.
The play centers around middle-aged and married, overworked and overweight, Barney Cashman wants to join the sexual revolution before it’s too late and arranges three seductions.
But it would seem the long-married, restaurateur, Barney, is born to failure.
The Stage Company lineup includes Eric Billingsley as Barney Cashman, Kate Burns as Elaine Navazio, Shelley Hill as Bobbi Michele and Darcy Kriegsman as Jeanette Fisher.
Production staff includes Tammy Charles as assistant director/stage manager.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, with $5 “Student Appreciation Day” tickets on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Tickets may be purchased at the Varsity Center for the Arts box office, open from 5-7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and one hour prior to each performance.
