Author and historian Jon Musgrave will be signing books and taking questions from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Pickers Outlet Mall as part of the antique store's fourth anniversary celebration.
Musgrave, a native of Marion, wrote a book on the Old Slave House, "Slaves, Salt, Sex & Mr. Crenshaw," which is now in its third edition, and co-authored three books about the region's dramatic "bloody Williamson" history: "Inside the Shelton Gang," "Secrets of the Herrin Gangs," and "The Bloody Vendetta of Southern Illinois."
Musgrave also wrote a book with Ruthie Shelton about the Shelton Gang. Copies will be available of Shelton's three "Untold Stories" novels, based on the activities of her father's generation of the Shelton Gang that took place after the murder of her grandmother in Fairfield in 1967.
A number of local history books Musgrave has edited and historical writings he's helped publish will be for sale.
Pickers Outlet Mall is located at 9764 Herrin Road, 1.5 miles west of Interstate 57.
