A woman whose mother served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II will present a program about her mother's experience at the Jefferson County Historical Village on Saturday, Aug. 19.
Mollie Weinstein Schaffer joined the military during World War II, and her story shows the human side of life during the war. She frequently wrote home to tell her family about her experience. Her daughter, Cyndee Schaffer, published the letters in a book, "Mollie's War."
Schaffer will present a program about her mother's experience during the war, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the Schweinfurth Museum at the Jefferson County Historical Village.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. The Historical Village is located at 1411 N. 27th St. in Mount Vernon. For more information, contact the Historical Society at 618-246-0033.
