Jefferson County Historical Society will be celebrating the history and tradition of Southern Illinois at its annual Heritage Festival.
This year’s Heritage Festival will feature craft demonstrations, musical entertainment, a guided cemetery walk, art projects and activities for children.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8. Monday Night Strummers take the stage at 11 a.m. Saturday, Bringin' it Back plays at 1 p.m. Saturday, and Country Gold performs at 1 p.m. Sunday. Three cemetery walks will be held, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, and at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Craft demonstrations include basketry, glass bead making, blacksmithing, flint knapping, weaving and spinning. New to the festival this year is the addition of an antique tractor show provided by Jefferson County Antique Iron.
All the historical society buildings and cabins will also be open for tours. Crafts and food will be available for purchase.
