Jim Bruno, who was a member of the Shawn Colvin Band for 10 years in Carbondale, is coming back to perform at The Varsity on Sept. 17. He will be joined by other well-known musicians.

Longtime Carbondale musician and songwriter Jim Bruno is returning to Southern Illinois to perform at The Varsity Center on Sunday, Sept. 17.

The show, billed as Jim Bruno & Friends, will include a solo set of all original music followed by a reunion jam that includes a reunion of the Dixie Diesels and Pontiac Jones, two of the best bands to come out of Carbondale. Other musicians sitting in will include Tawl Paul, Robbie Stokes, Charlie Morrill and Michael Potter.

Bruno lived in Carbondale for 10 years, and during that time he was an original member of the Shawn Colvin Band. He now lives in the San Francisco Bay area. His songs have been recorded by numerous recording artists, including Shawn Colvin, Chuck Prophet, Mary Lou Lord, Cliff Everhardt and Thad Cockrell.

The Sept. 17 show begins at 7:30 p.m. The doors and bar will open at 6:45.
