Was it just a few weeks ago that we resolved to eat more greens and fewer French fries and to, um ... stop chasing pita chips down with wine? (OK, that was mine.)

If your 2018 intentions have turned wobbly, don't despair. JoAnn Carson, professor of clinical nutrition at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, offers never-too-late tips for reaching your goals.

1. FORGIVE YOURSELF

"All of us are human and can fall off whatever wagon we're hitched to," Carson says. Wake up the next day and start all over again.

2. THINK FRESH, THINK VARIETY

Buy fresh fruits and vegetables, including those you've never tried, on every grocery store trip.

3. EVERY MEAL COUNTS

Make sure to include fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates and protein with every meal.

4. TREAT YOURSELF

Stick with your plan, then reward yourself without going overboard, Carson says. Chocolate your fave? Have a small piece of dark and savor this healthy morsel.
