For $200, you can get the security of knowing who's knocking at your door or ringing your doorbell — all courtesy of a video doorbell device that sends an alert to your smartphone. It's the Ring Video Doorbell, and its app uses WiFi to work on both the iPhone and the iPad.
The Ring Video Doorbell also detects motion, so a sensor motion alert also detects other activity and motion outside your home. You don't only see whose at your door and what's going on around your home, you can also talk with the person who rang.
The product can be loaded onto wood, stucco and brick surfaces. It connects to an existing doorbell or runs off its built-in installed battery.
According to the company's website, the Ring's cloud video recording captures video for viewing and later playback.
