Fashion is heavy into metal this season. From the unconventional metallic pinks and greens to the traditional shimmering silvers and golds, you've probably noticed several examples of famous people going metallic in recent months.

Jenna Bush wore a green silk crepe Badgley Mischka slink with metallic leather insets to an inaugural ball in January. At the Grammys, R&B singer Ashanti sparkled in a bronze Gucci dress with metallic trim.

This spring, you'll have your chance to shimmer. Expect to see plenty of metallic jackets, shoes, pants, tops and handbags while you're shopping.

Don't be tempted to overdo the look, however. Metallic pieces work best when they are the most interesting part of the outfit, so pair your metallic item with more muted, understated pieces. And don't mix metallics, unless you want to look like something metal, i.e. a car.

Breezy, blue: Pick another versatile pair of wedge sandals from Target, Mossimo, $13.99. Next, accent with turquoise because it's hot this season. We found these Villager turquoise earrings and bracelet at Kohl's; $16 each. Top it all off with a big, bright bag like this Nine & Co. purse from Kohl's, $39. Total cost: $84.99.
