CAVE-IN-ROCK - After four days of music and excitement, The Gathering has come to an end.
The four-day concert, hosted by the Insane Clown Posse and its record label Psychopathic Records, brought about 6,000 fans to the event in Southern Illinois.
Hardin County Sheriff Tom Seiner said a few more arrests had been made by Sunday, mostly minor drug charges involving marijuana. One man was arrested on two felony charges of possession of Ecstasy with intent to sell.
Tenable Protective Services, based out of Cleveland, provided internal security at the event taking place on private property near Cave-in-Rock.
Carl Poghen, spokesman for TPS, said the event went over smoothly and things were even "a little quieter than usual."
"Today's our big day, and we're kicking it," he said on Sunday. The concert began Thursday and culminated Sunday with a performance by ICP.
Poghen said a few arrests had been made by local police, but no major incidents occurred at the event. With extremely hot weather, some people were taken to local hospitals for heat exhaustion, and many others were treated on site, he said.
The security company, as well as event planners, enjoyed having the event in Southern Illinois, Poghen said.
"The owners of the property have been phenomenal, and the neighbors have been helpful to the kids," he said. "If the people want us back, we'd be glad to come back."
