MARION - A 15-year-old male attempting to register at Marion High School was arrested after he was discovered well past high-school age - and a female.
Marion police said they arrested Jack Kaiser, 24, a female, Tuesday for misrepresenting herself as a 15-year-old male when she attempted to register at the school.
Kaiser, who registered under the name "Jack Stones," was charged with disorderly conduct for misrepresentation to state agencies.
Kaiser, who also has reportedly gone by the name "Jennifer May" is believed to be from California but was living in Marion at the time of her arrest.
Kaiser was brought to the school Oct. 2 by a local associate university professor who was apparently attempting to gain guardianship of "Stones," who had said "he" was homeless, Marion Unit 2 Superintendent Wade Hudgens said.
No details about the professor were released by police.
During the registration process, "Stones" could not provide school officials with a birth certificate or school records, thus raising a "red flag," Hudgens said.
"Our people asked a series of questions and took the usual intake information and ... (Stones) said 'he' had not been in school for a couple of years," Hudgens said.
Because staff was suspicious, the would-be student was scheduled for testing and law enforcement officials were contacted, Hudgens said. Staff also did a search of social networking sites including MySpace and Facebook.
After finding a profile of "Stones" on Facebook, which Hudgens said has since been removed, more questions were raised.
"Something just didn't seem right," he said. "'He looked older than 15 and didn't answer questions the way a 15-year-old would - too adult-like," Hudgens said.
What Kaiser's intentions were in posing as a student have not been revealed, but Hudgens said "students were never in danger thanks to the heads-up action of our staff."
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
