MURPHYSBORO - The murder trial of Elijah Lacy was rescheduled this week. Lacy, 24, is now scheduled to stand trial beginning Feb. 1, in the 2007 home invasion murder of Falon Taylor, 21, who was shot in her sleep in January 2007. Lacy and Taylor were longtime friends before her death. Lacy was arrested and charged with the crime in February, about two years after it happened.

Other cases

 Robert L. Ollie Jr., 47, of Carbondale is set for Jan. 4. Ollie is accused of shooting and killing James Banner, 63, of Chicago in the lower level of his parent's home on Crestview Street in Carbondale on Feb. 1.

 Trial is scheduled for Jan. 19 for Carbondale resident Jim'arii Mathis, 21, who is charged in the 2008 murder of Willie C. Carr. A jury found Carbondale resident Sherman Larue Allen not guilty of murder in relation to the crime earlier this year.

Carr, 21, was shot in the back of the head and left on the street in the 500 block of Robert A. Stalls Avenue on April 2, 2008. He died in a St. Louis hospital from his wounds three days later.

 No trial date has been set for former Carbondale police officer James D. Gaddis, 27, whose bank robbery case is next scheduled for a management conference Nov. 18.

Anthony M. Fike, 35, whom authorities say conspired with Gaddis to rob the First Southern Bank in Carbondale last fall, is also scheduled for a management conference, although his is set for December 9.

Both face charges of armed robbery. Police allege Gaddis used his police-issued pistol in the robbery before fleeing the bank on Old Murphysboro Road on a motorcycle with Fike.
