WEST FRANKFORT - Respects will be paid this weekend to those 119 coal miners who died in the 1951 Orient No. 2 Coal Mine disaster.
A candlelight vigil will take place at Miner's Memorial Park in West Frankfort on Sunday, the 57th anniversary of the disaster.
As the names of the fallen miners are read, members of the West Frankfort Fire Department will light candles representing their life and death.
Local musicians with original compositions about the Orient No. 2 Disaster will also perform, following the vigil.
The public is invited to attend the vigil at 7 p.m. at the park just east of the railroad tracks on Main Street.
