Several Southern Illinoisans have been elected to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. They will be inducted April 25 at Illinois State University.

Two area coaches were inducted this year.

Mark Motsinger of Harrisburg, long-time women's coach at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg and now boys basketball coach at Carrier Mills, is part of the Class of 2009.

Rick Metcalf, who has coached at Sesser-Valier and Vienna high schools, was the second coach selected to the Hall of Fame. Metcalf fashioned a 375-112 record over 17 years at the two schools.

Bryant Lowe of Cairo was the lone player elected this year. Lowe played college basketball at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Three other Southern Illinoisans will also go into the hall in April.

Ray Albert of Odin will enter the hall as an official. Harrisburg's Dr. Roger Herrin will be inducted in the "Friends of Basketball" category and Norm Sanders of the Belleville News-Democrat will enter the hall in the media category.

Finally, the 1994 and 2000 Okawville girls basketball teams will also be enshrined. The 1994 team finished 32-2 and the 2000 squad was 33-1.
