WILLIAMSON COUNTY - A search of a rural Williamson County residence Tuesday ended in the arrests of four people - two of them juveniles - and recovery of items including weapons that were taken during several Zeigler-area burglaries, police said Wednesday.
Bruce Skelton, 38, and Tara Skelton, 36, of rural Carbondale and two juveniles, were arrested on charges of possession of stolen weapons after the search of the Skeltons' residence. The investigation is continuing, according to a release issued by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
A search warrant was issued as a result of investigation by the task force and the Zeigler Police Department after the burglaries. Firearms, coins and other items were stolen.
The Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team conducted the search in cooperation with the Williamson County state's attorney's office, the drug task force, Zeigler police and state troopers.
The Skeltons and juveniles were arrested at the home, which has a Carbondale mailing address but is in Williamson County.
Police located four of five firearms, coins and other items that had been stolen in the Zeigler burglaries, the release said.
Bruce Skelton was also charged with possession of firearms by a convicted felon. Both juveniles also face burglary charges in Franklin County.
