A rural Benton business building was destroyed by fire Monday.
The building that housed Chief's Towing on Illinois 37 south of Benton was totaled by a fire of unknown origin, Ewing-Northern Fire Protection District Chief Monty Rea said.
Fire was tearing through the pole barn-type building when Ewing-Northern firefighters arrived, he said. Mutual aid was provided by the Benton Fire Department.
"It took about 25 minutes to get the fire under control and another hour to get it completely out," Rea said.
The cause of the fire is not believed suspicious.
