HAMILTON COUNTY - A Macedonia farmer was killed as a result of a farm accident Sunday.

William E. Darnell, 67, died in the accident that occurred as he was working in a field in the southwest corner of the county, just on the other side of the Franklin County line, Hamilton County Deputy Coroner Bob Bryson said.

Darnell was using a hay accumulator, Bryson said, and sustained multiple internal injuries while he was apparently trying to dislodge a stuck hay bale.

"It was just a tragic accident," Bryson said.

Funeral services for Darnell are pending at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home.
