CARMI - Alcohol-focused patrols will be conducted in Wabash, Wayne, Saline and Gallatin counties during February, Illinois State Police District 19 announced this week.

State police will work with local law enforcement agencies to conduct Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement or ACE patrols, according to a news release. These patrols target specific areas and focus on preventing, detecting and taking action with impaired driving and the illegal transportation and consumption of alcohol and other drugs, the release stated.

ACE patrols are part of the "You Drink and Drive, You Lose" campaign and are funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
