EAST ST. LOUIS - Officials have appointed East St. Louis City Council member Eddie Lee Jackson to replace the late Wyvetter Younge in the Illinois House.

Younge, an Illinois House member for 33 years, died Dec. 26 after complications arose from surgery. She was 78.

Jackson was appointed Friday to represent the 114th District by Robert Sprague, chairman of the 114th Legislative Committee. Jackson has been on the East St. Louis City Council since 1979 and also has been the city planner.
