A tandem semitrailer overturned past mile post 76 on southbound Interstate 57 Saturday, injuring the driver and stopping traffic for nearly three hours.
Trooper David Sneed, public information officer for Illinois State Police District 13, said the truck made contact with a small Toyota car about 4:48 p.m. The semi overturned, blocking traffic.
The driver, Nikola Stojakovic, 37, of Crown Point, Ind., received minor injuries and was taken to Franklin Hospital for treatment. Neither the driver nor the passenger of the Toyota was injured, and the vehicle sustained minor damage.
One lane was reopened at about 7:35 p.m. Sneed said there are more drivers on the road this time of year and encourages drivers to wear seatbelts, pay attention and be mindful of construction zones.
