MURPHYSBORO - One lane of traffic was shut down Thursday morning along Walnut Street so Murphysboro Public Works employees could replace a broken valve.
One lane of westbound traffic between Illinois 127 and Fifth Street will be closed for the rest of the day and into Friday morning while the crews fix the valve, said Tim Lee, water department foreman.
As of Thursday morning, crews did not know if water would need to be turned off along Walnut Street from Second to Ninth streets, Lee said.
Crews expect to have the valve fixed and the lane reopened by Friday morning, he said.
If people in the area have any issues with their water, they can call the Murphysboro Water Department at (618) 684-2431.
