CARBONDALE When the staff of alt.news 26:46 heads to St. Louis for the annual National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Regional Chapter Emmy Awards next month, two local students will be among the nominees.
Jay Carey, a senior radio-television major from De Soto, and Jonathan Gravatt, a junior radio-TV major from Carbondale, will be among the 10 Southern Illinois University Carbondale students and recent graduates nominated for their work on the alternative television news magazine.
The complete list of nominations includes:
• Carey and Kelly Reed, a sophomore cinema and photography major from Grayslake, in the arts/entertainment program feature category.
• Tim Wilkerson, a senior radio-TV major from Crystal Lake, in the arts/entertainment program feature category.
• James Milner, a 2008 graduate from Springfield, and Gravatt in the science/environment category.
• Sean Brown, a senior radio-TV major from Deerfield, in the human interest program story/feature category.
• Scott Blair, a junior decided major from Glenview, in the on-camera talent/performer/host category.
• Adam Slutsky, a junior cinema and photography major from Deerfield, and Carey in the writer category.
• Andrew Kastler of Waterloo, Iowa, and Todd Cima of Cantrall, both 2008 graduates, in the director/post-production category.
• Brown and Wilkerson in the magazine program category.
• Brown in the director/post-production category.
• Cima and Kastler in the editor - program/program feature category.
• Brown, Wilkerson, Carey, Milner and Kastler in the graphic arts category.
• Cima in the writer/spot length (promo, public service announcement, commercial) category.
• Blair in the writer/spot length category.
• Blair and Wilkerson in the advanced media - arts/entertainment category.
