METROPOLIS - Harrah's Casino in Metropolis has made a $12,000 donation to the United Way of Massac County.

The check from the casino helped to bring the organization closer to their $60,000 goal for the year.

"Despite the economic downturn, we are optimistic to meet our goal thanks to the support we receive from Harrah's and other contributors in our small county. In fact, the $12,000 received from Harrah's through payroll deduction, special fundraisers and a generous company contribution is over 20 percent of our goal for this year," said Caroline Jones, Co-President for the UW of Massac County, in a written release Friday.
