BUCKNER - A fire Tuesday night destroyed a Buckner house and left the owner with few belongs.
Glenda Kirkpatrick was at a neighbor's house babysitting when the blaze in her home started, she said. Local fire officials said they were called to the scene, located at 104 N. Newton St., between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to find the residence already engulfed.
Firefighters were on the scene a few hours, but the house is a total loss, Kirkpatrick said.
Officials haven't determined what started the fire. Kirkpatrick said she always made a point to turn off and unplug all unused appliances. She said there was nothing on in the house when the fire started, except for the furnace.
