ELDORADO - A reception Sunday will honor a renowned artist, his artwork and his impact on the coal miner.

The Eldorado Memorial Library will host Vachel Davis Appreciation Day from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library. Davis' painting titled "The Coal Miner" inspired a sculpture that stands on the grounds of the state Capitol in memorial of miners killed in the 1947 mining disaster in Centralia.

Refreshments will be served. The library is located at 1001 Grant St. in Eldorado.
