Amanda Nicole Peyton, 18, of Belle Rive died at 1:02 p.m. Saturday in rural Mount Vernon of injuries after an automobile accident.
Peyton was a senior at Mount Vernon Township High School.
The crash was reported at 12:32 p.m. The 911 call to Jefferson County dispatch service reported a one-vehicle accident in which a female was trapped under the vehicle, according to a press release from Jefferson County Sheriff Roger D. Mulch. The crash oc-curred on David Road, one-fourth mile west of Triton Lane in rural Mount Vernon.
Peyton was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 16-year-old, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Personnel from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson Fire Protection District, Waltonville Fire Department and Litton's Ambulance all responded to the scene of the crash.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the sheriff's office and Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Mulch said.
Amanda Peyton was the daughter of Ron and Michele Apgar Peyton. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Donny Peyton of Belle Rive, grandparents Jackie Hayes of Belle Rive and Cecil and Earleen Apgar of Texico, and great-grandparents, John and Dorothy Lemmon of Wayne City; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial will be in Richardson Hill Cemetery in Dahlgren. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the Amanda Peyton family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
