WEST FRANKFORT — A West Frankfort businessman and entrepreneur will be sharing his vision for a new development along Interstate 57 at Wednesday’s Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Scott Williams is the guest speaker, beginning at noon at Bella’s Restaurant in Franklin County Country Club, off Illinois 37 on Country Club Road. Chamber members and the public are invited to attend.
Williams will be presenting his proposal for the Little Egypt Oasis, which would be built over I-57 on a vacant railroad bridge at Mile Marker 65.
The Little Egypt Oasis includes an upscale restaurant, conference center, local merchant displays, retail shops, welcome center, truck stop and information center among other amenities.
According to Williams and the state of Illinois web site, the total average daily traffic count is more than 35,000 vehicles going under the bridge, for an annual total of over 13 million. The bridge, adjacent acreage and frontage boulevard where Williams plans the complex were included in 2008 in West Frankfort’s new tax increment financing district.
