Donald R. Davis
MURPHYSBORO - Donald R. Davis, R.PH., 70, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in Murphysboro.
Don was born in Du Quoin, Dec. 2, 1936, a son to the late Ralph M. and Diza W. (Kimmel) Davis. He married Trish Owens at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in De Soto on March 31, 1978, and she survives of Murphysboro.
Don was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in De Soto and was a retired pharmacist. Don was a class of 1954, graduate of Murphysboro Township High School and played basketball and baseball while in high school, and he graduated with high honors from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1959.
He owned and operated the former Towne Pharmacy in Murphysboro from 1966, through 1984, and was a licensed pharmacist for 46 years in Illinois, Tennessee and Missouri. After 1984, he taught in the pharmacist program at University of Tennessee-Memphis for two years and was teacher of the year both years, he then worked for six additional years as director of labs in the pharmacy program at University of Tennessee-Memphis. During his tenure at University of Tennessee he edited several pharmacy text books. Don was also the pharmacist at Toms Mad Pricer from 1996, through 2003. He was a member and past President of Murphysboro Kiwanis club, he had been a member of Murphysboro Apple Festival Committee for several years. Don was also a member of Sons of American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 in Murphysboro, a member of BPOE 572 in Murphysboro, an avid golfer as well as a very well known and respected citizen of Murphysboro.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Shaker Samuel of First Baptist Church in Murphysboro officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available for both organizations at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Trish, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pam Davis of Murphysboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Steve Reames of Ava and Heather and Marcus Lindner of Murphysboro; one brother, Paul Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Simmons and her husband, Scott, Micah Davis, Connor Davis, Emilynn Lindner and Ande Lindner; two great-grandchildren, Xander and Megan Simmons.

DU QUOIN - Jeffrey Leland Morris, 52, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Robert Kent Holland
WEST FRANKFORT - Robert Kent Holland, 77, died on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Asheville, N.C.
He was born in West Frankfort June 19, 1930, to Earl and Edna (Gloyd) Holland.
He was a retired tax assessor for Washoe County in Reno, Nev. He was a member of First Christian Church in West Frankfort, American Legion Post 1961 in Orient and VFW Post 5764 in West Frankfort.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korea Conflict and received the Purple Heart. Later, he served as treasurer and secretary for the DAV of Illinois.
He is survived by his sons, Mike and wife, Lucy, of West Frankfort and Jim of Benton; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; dear friend, Nina Rachel of Reno, Nev.; and two brothers, Jerry and wife, Jan, of Las Cruces, N.M., and Jim and wife, Vicki, of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; parents; and sister, Mary Lou Wentworth.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with Pastor Gene Fox officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Marion, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 1961 Orient and VFW Post 5764. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at the funeral home.

CHRISTOPHER - Janet Medley, 65, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at her home with her family at her side.
She was a homemaker. She was a member St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher.
She was born in West Frankfort on June 2, 1942, to Louis Mystrie and Elizabeth (Salvetti) Mystrie. She was married to Harvey Medley.
Survivors include children, Keith and Glenda Medley of Christopher; grandchildren, Josh Sisney and Savanah Wynn; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Makayla and Mallory Sisney and Aiden and Kolten Wynn; brother-in-law, Rick and Judy Cook and children, John and Katie; special cousins, Karen Salvetti and their daughters, Lisa and Laura, Curtis and Betty Ponder and their children, Butch and Tina; aunt, Zena Salvetti of Christopher; special friends, Bod and Sue Furlow and their daughters, Kelli and Laura, and their children, Toni Grob, Ryan and Kacy, Don and Wilma Maceri and their daughter, Missy, Patty Johnston and her daughters, Judy and Don Kellough, Father Poole and Maid-Rite Gang.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Toney Medley.

Gary Floyd Kimbro
MARION - Gary Floyd Kimbro, 71, of Carrollton, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born July 22, 1936, in Newburn. He is the son Floyd and Agnes Long Kimbro. He married Marjorie Joan Barnard on Feb. 27, 1954, in Hernando, Miss., and she survives.
Also surviving three daughters, Jenny Egly and husband, Randy, of Appleton, Wis., Gail Loeschen and husband, the Rev. Randy, of Fairview Heights and Kelly Billingsley of Marion; two sons, Alan Kimbro and wife, Bonnie, of Salisbury, N.C., and Michael Kimbro and wife, Juanita, of York, S.C.; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Kimbro, Ashley Billingley, Tyler Billingsley, Scott Egly, Kurt Egly, Sarah Petrie, Stacy Hosfeld, Christopher Kimbro, Timothy Kimbro, Mathew Kimbro, Candice Loeschen and Dan Loeschen; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two granddaughters, Shauna Maddon and Amy Loeschen.
Mr. Kimbro graduated from Carrollton High School. He served 10 years in the United States Air Force and later 16 years in the United States Army retiring in 1995. After retirement he was administrator of the Army Reserve Center in Marion. During Desert Storm he was the administrative coordinator for all military personnel going to the Persian Gulf. He was a member of RHEA Masonic Lodge 47 in Jonesboro, Tenn., and Scottish Rites in Knoxville, Tenn., and Jericho Shrine Temple in Tennessee. He was a former member and a 10-year deacon at Creal Springs Baptist Church and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in White Hall.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, with burial in Carrollton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
Tommy Lee Scott
BUSH - Tommy Lee Scott, 71, of Elizabethtown, and formerly of Bush, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Bush and had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Sue Scott in March 2007; his parents, Frank and Lula (Riley) Scott; and two sisters, Margie Wilson and Charlotte Shelby.
He is survived by his two sons, Tommy T. Scott and wife, Denise, of Rineyville, and Mike Scott and wife, Marsha, of Carterville; three daughters, Glenetta Perosi and husband, Louis, of Stroudsburg, Pa., Brenda Hite and husband, Kenneth, of Summit Point, W. Va., and Patty Eubanks of Illinois; two brothers, Theron Scott of Bush and Warren Riley of Carbondale; six grandchildren, Jeremy Athy, Mark Athy, Angelina Dees, Kenney Hite, Shannon Meyers and Kristan Scott; and six great-grandchildren.

SPARTA - Thomas B. Brown IV, 56, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in Fort Myers, Fla.

Virginia Otterson
BENTON - Mary "Virginia" Otterson, 88, went to be with the Lord at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Crossroads Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Virginia was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Macedonia, the only child of Stanley and Ruth "House" Crosno.
Virginia married Aden "Jack" Otterson in 1936, and they shared 37 years together until his death in 1973. Virginia worked in state hospitals as a nurse in Wisconsin and Lincoln before she and her husband settled on the family farm. Virginia dearly loved children and served the State of Illinois as a foster parent for over 25 years, which saw more than 30 children pass through her doors. Many still call her mom and grandma. Her loving and gentle nature will be greatly missed. Virginia was a member of Forest Baptist Church where, with a little coaxing, you could get her to play the piano for the congregation.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Mark Otterson of Benton, Jerry Otterson and wife, Carolyn, of St Louis, Larry Otterson of Mount Vernon, Dean Otterson of Benton and Keith Otterson of Buckner. She also leaves her grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Otterson of St Louis, Shana and Stephanie of Mount Vernon, Deanna Otterson of Florida and Felicia Horton of Royalton. Virginia also leaves a special foster son, James Greeney and wife, Karen, of Benton and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and her parents, Ruth and Stanley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Davis Funeral Chapel, on Illinois-148 between Christopher and Sesser. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the chapel, with the Rev. Clarence Otterson and the Rev. Steve House officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery, near Akin. Neva (Coziahr) Ray
MARION - Neva (Coziahr) Ray, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Yorkville. She was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Gilson, the daughter of Orlan and Nellie (Johnson) Coziahr.
Neva graduated from Galesburg High School and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria. She was a captain during World War II, serving as a nurse. She took part in the Battle of the Bulge and many other tent hospitals. This was where she met and married Dr. Charles Ray on Sept. 1, 1946, in Joliet.
They made their home in Washington, D.C., until retirement, where they settled in Marion.
She is survived by one brother, Thomas Coziahr and wife, Jeanene, of Yorkville; five nieces; and one nephew.
Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Ray; her parents, Orlan and Nellie Coziahr; two sisters, Neoma Cadwell and husband, Everett, and Elaine Zeiger and husband, Walt; and brothers, Wilson and William Coziahr.
A military graveside service will be in Mounds National Cemetery in Mounds.

CARTERVILLE - Rosenell "Rose" Beasley, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

WEST FRANKFORT - Terrell B. Turner, 64, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his residence.
He was born in Lowes, Ky., on Aug. 23, 1943, to Burnett Lee Turner and Edrie Marie (White) Turner. He married Marjorie (Isaacs) Turner on Jan. 2, 2004, in West Frankfort.
He was a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church and had been a truck driver for 30 years.
Survivors include sons, Kenny Turner of West Frankfort, Terry Turner of Kentucky and Lowell Turner of Kentucky; daughters, Frances Marie Luckado of Virginia and Charlotte Jones of Tennessee; stepdaughter, Juntina Isaacs of Thompsonville; brothers, Harold Junior Turner of Melber, Ky., Jerry Dale Turner of Milburn, Ky., and JW Turner of West Frankfort; sisters, Rosa Lee Kennemore of Mayfield, Ky., Carolyn Sue Paschall of Mayfield, Ky., Barbara Ann Barnhill of Mayfield, Ky., Doris Marie Ballard of Kirbytown, Ky., and Donna Jean Lovett of Bloomgrove, Texas; several grandchildren; stepgrandchildren, Felicia Cottrell, Kristin Cottrell and Alec Cottrell; and special friends, Earnest and Edith Brandon of Johnston City.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Patricia Dean Cissell and Ruth Faye Stanfield; and grandparents.

STEELEVILLE - Lillie I. Kopp, 95, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at home in Steeleville.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 28, 1911, in Carbondale to Ide Ellis and Clara McGarvey Ellis. She married Adolph W. Kopp on July 1, 1936, and he passed away Dec. 18, 1996.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Mueller and husband, Jon, of Steeleville; grandsons, Jason and wife, Dana, of Freeburg, Chad and wife, Kristie, of Romeoville and Jeremy of Steeleville; great-grandsons, Alec and Andrew; sister, Dorothy Tucker of Steuart, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews including, Sharon Bender.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. She was also a member of Steeleville Senior Citizens and Jolly Swingers Kitchen Band. She was a homemaker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with the Rev. Frank Langholf officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery.

NASHVILLE - Willard W. Brink, 77, died at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Washington County Hospital in Nashville.

Mary Kay Graham
WEST FRANKFORT - Mary Kay Graham, 58, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Mary was born in Davis County Hospital in Washington, Ind., on Aug. 21, 1949, the daughter of Robert Lee and Mildred Simpson.
She married Robert Jerry Graham in Herrin on Oct. 2, 1976.
Together they have shared 31 years of marriage. Robert survives in West Frankfort.
Mrs. Graham was a homemaker. She was a member of First Church of God in Herrin. Mary graduated from Petersburg High School in 1968 and attended college in Kankakee, Ind.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Jerry Graham of West Frankfort; mother, Mildred Simpson of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and William Laws of Benton; stepson, Terry Graham of Tamaroa; stepdaughter, Patricia Howerton of Marion; stepdaughter, Angela Drumheller of Marion; one sister, Cheryl Cairiving; two brothers, Robert and Donald Simpson; grandchildren, Jessica Howerton, Brandy Graham, Tera Graham, Fleshia Marks, Aaron Marks, Denika Laws, Meghan Laws and Brandon Switzer; and great-grandchildren, Lushawna Morris and Christopher Morris.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Simpson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery.

HERRIN - Shirley Ann Orso Patrick, 74, wife of the late Donald Roy Patrick, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Herrin.
Born in Herrin, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Sarah Sowman Orso.
Mrs. Patrick was formerly employed with Dr. Harold Thrasher in Pickens.
She was a member of Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church and Pickens Senior Action Center.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Weathers and husband, Bert, of Greenville; a son, Bobby Patrick and wife, Judy, of Pickens; four grandchildren, Stefanie Whitmire and husband, Ben, of Easley, Courtney Weathers of Charleston, Kelly Patrick of Pickens and Chase Weathers of Greenville; one great-grandchild, Aeryn Whitmire; a sister, Reba Harrison and husband, Carl, of Herrin; and a brother, Billy Orso and his wife, Shirley, of Herrin.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Patrick; a son Christopher Patrick; and a brother, Don Orso.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Muriel 'Mimi' J. Peterson
HERRIN - Muriel "Mimi" J. Peterson, 75, died at 4:02 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Herrin Hospital.
Mrs. Peterson was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Melrose Park, the daughter of John R. and Dorothy (Rensch) Benson. She married Richard G. Peterson on June 27, 1953, in Oak Park, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. He survives in Herrin.
Muriel worked as a teacher's aide for special education and as a hair designer. She was of Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Peterson of Herrin; three grandchildren, Benjamin Peterson, Nicholas Peterson and Elizabeth Peterson, all of St. Louis; daughter-in-law, Deborah Peterson of St. Louis; two brothers, Burton Benson of Lysle and Robert Benson and wife, Nancy, of Sugar Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark R. Peterson; two sisters, Dorothy Cortopassi, Delores Benson; and brother, John Benson Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul Church Yard Cemetery in St. Louis.
