ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Founded in 1985 as the Gateway Football Conference, the Missouri Valley Football Conference is celebrating its 25th season of FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) football during the 2009 season. As part of a season-long celebration, the conference is paying tribute to its all-time greats by selecting a Silver Anniversary Team and All-Select NFL Team, the two of which combined to honor 13 players from Southern Illinois University.

Brandon Jacobs and Bart Scott, SIU alum and current National Football League members, are two of the seven Salukis honored as part of the MVFC All-Select NFL Team. Arkee Whitlock, who is one of only two Salukis in school history to be a two-time, first team All-American, was one of six Salukis selected to the Silver Anniversary Team.

Joining Jacobs and Scott on the all-Select NFL Team were QB Jim Hart, WR Kevin House, TE Damon Jones, OL Carl Mauck and DB Terry Taylor. Whitlock joined QB Joel Sambursky, WR Cornell Craig, RS Craig Turner, PK Craig Coffin and DB Alexis Moreland on the MVFC Silver Anniversary Team.
