A ceremony to unveil an image of the new US Postal Service Stamp celebrating 100 years of Boy Scouting in America will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church, 220 North Tower Road, in Carbondale.

A short history of Scouting in Southern Illinois will be followed by the unveiling. The St. Louis Region Director of the US Postal Service will be on hand to unveil the image with the assistance of Scouts.

After the unveiling there will be several activities, including the sale individual stamps and sheets of the Scouting Commemoration Stamp. A Postal Service employee will also have a special cancellation stamp designed just for this event.

Displays of Scouting related stamps will be available for viewing. They are being provided by the Southern Illinois Stamp Club and the American Topical Association. In addition, the Illinois Stamp Club will make a special cache of scouting stamps available to the youth to attend the event.

Cake and refreshments will be served at the event.
