CARBONDALE -- AT&T announced today a $50,000 contribution to SIU for its Saluki Summer Bridge Success program.
The contribution allowed the program to double its participants this July, with half of the 52 incoming freshmen receiving academic support in STEM skills – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The two-week intensive program introduces students to the campus, student life and gives a much-needed boost in some of the classes where many incoming freshmen find it difficult to have success.
“The Bridge to Success program helps prepare students for the next step in their education,” Paul La Schiazza, AT&T Illinois president, said. “It readies them to take full advantage of what’s to come. That spark of innovation, that spark of preparation can open up a whole new world of opp.’s for students.”
