JONESBORO — Illinois State Police officials are investigating the case of a deceased man's body found early Thursday morning in Jonesboro.

Investigators did not release the name of the deceased person or any information about this case.

Union County coroner Phil Hileman said the man's body was found in the back of the trash truck sometime before he was called to the scene at the Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center around 7 a.m. Friday. He said it is unknown when the body made it into the truck, which started its route in Cambria and made stops in Carbondale and other places before the body was found in Jonesboro.

The trash truck belongs to Republic, he said.

He said he had no other information about the case, but had made contact with a pathologist, who would be doing an autopsy.

Check back for additional developments as they become known.
