CARBONDALE — A Carbondale man is dead and his girlfriend is under arrest after a stabbing early Thursday, according to a news release from the Carbondale Police Department.
Reginal Gilspie, 55, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale after police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 300 block of South Marion Street at 12:03 a.m. Thursday, the release states. Upon arrival, officers found Gilspie unresponsive with a stab wound to the chest, and officers and Jackson County Ambulance Service paramedics attempted life-saving measures.
Police said in the release that the suspect, Rebecca Belle Valentine, 42, of Carbondale, was preliminarily charged with involuntary manslaughter, and incarcerated at Jackson County Jail. Valentine resided in the apartment with Gilspie.
