A driver who crashed into an apartment complex on Thursday night fled from Carbondale police on foot and remains at large.

At about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle, believing the driver to be under the influence, according to City of Carbondale Police Department Sgt. Amber Ronketto.

The black Audi sedan fled from the officer and crashed into a building in the 900 block of East Park Avenue.

Ronketto said the crash caused “very minor damage” to the building’s siding. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 618-549-2677.
