The Southern Illinois AIDS Walk begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newman Center, 715 S. Washington St., on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
A registration and health fair begin at 10 a.m., and free HIV testing will be provided at the walk.
Dr. Ricardo Postigo, an infectious disease specialist at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, will be the featured speaker at the walk. He will speak at 10:30 a.m. about HIV and AIDS in Southern Illinois.
Staff from HIV Care Connect will also be accepting donations of daily personal hygiene and household cleaning supplies, such as hair shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, paper towels, deodorant, laundry detergent, bath soap, bleach, dish soap, trash bags, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shaving cream, tampons or pads, Kleenex, sandwich bags and Clorox wipes.
