Two Herrin men were arrested Wednesday evening after an alleged armed robbery of a gas station on West Main Street in Marion, according to the Marion Police Department.
Bryon Williams, 39, and Travis J. Taylor, 47, were both arrested for aggravated robbery. Williams was also charged with driving while his driver’s license was revoked and Taylor was additionally charged with resisting a police officer.
At about 9:54 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery in progress at Valero Gas, 1801 W. Main St. in Marion. Officers found a silver van in the areas leaving the scene and attempted to make a stop.
After a driving short distance, the van stopped at the intersection of Copeland and Carbon streets, and the passenger attempted to run away. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody at the scene.
Marion’s K-9 unit responded to the scene and within minutes, K-9 Loeki found the suspect and he was arrested.
Police say an undisclosed amount of cash was recovered from the scene. Both men are incarcerated at the Williamson County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
