CARBONDALE — The city of Carbondale and the city of Herrin are offering a $3,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for a recent string of armed robberies, according to a news release from the City of Carbondale Police Department.

The Carbondale and Herrin police departments partnered in August for a joint investigation of the incidents, which affected businesses in Carbondale and Herrin. During the robberies, the suspects reportedly wore Halloween-style masks.

The following robberies are part of the investigation:

  • 9 p.m. on July 27 at Dollar General, 2160 Ramada Lane, Carbondale
  • 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 9 at Primo’s Pizza, 604 E. Park St., Carbondale
  • 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Dollar General, 1121 S. Park St., Herrin
  • 10:57 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Egyptian Corner, 534 E. Main St., Carbondale
  • 10 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Roll N Up, 600 E. Main St., Carbondale
  • 12:25 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Primo’s Pizza, 604 E. Park St., Carbondale
  • 9:56 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Farm Fresh, 1301 E. Park St., Herrin

The suspects have been described as two black males wearing masks and carrying handguns. One of the suspects is between 6 feet and 6 feet four inches tall and weighs about 220 pounds, police said. The other suspect is described as shorter and with an athletic or thin build.

The suspects are to be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
