Energy police arrested two men early Thursday morning following a traffic stop during which officers discovered the two had cocaine; one of the men fled the traffic stop and was arrested later.
According to a news release from Energy Police Chief Shawn M. Ladd, officers stopped a vehicle around 2 a.m. near the intersection of College Street and Illinois 148. The release states officers discovered the driver and passenger possessed a controlled substance, which tested positive for cocaine.
While officers were attempting to arrest the passenger, 30-year-old Darin Davis, of Zeigler, he broke free and fled. A short time later, officers arrested him after they encountered him while responding to a disturbance call on West Hamilton Street. Davis was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and escape from a police officer.
The driver, 32-year-old Tommy House, of Marion, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and improper lane usage.
