A 21-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting last weekend in Mount Vernon.

LaShawn Wilkes, Mount Vernon, is accused of shooting Carlton Holmes, 25.

Holmes was shot Saturday night in the parking lot of Nu Bowl Lanes in Mount Vernon. He was taken by private transport to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before midnight.

Wilkes was arrested by Mount Vernon police early Wednesday morning.
