Marion police are investigating a Sunday shooting incident that doesn't appear to have injured anyone, but left a bullet hole in an elderly woman's house.
According to a news release from Marion Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of South Second Street just after 11 p.m. Sunday night after receiving several calls reporting gunshots in the area. Police say callers described hearing about five gunshots, but officers were unable to locate any victims, suspects or the specific location where the incident may have taken place.
On Monday, an elderly woman discovered a so-called "projectile" in her living room and a bullet hole through the exterior wall of her residence. Officers collected bullet casings from outside the woman's home and a projectile from inside the home. Police said there's no reason to believe the woman was the intended target.
Police are asking anyone who saw or heard anything in the area before or after the gunshots, or anyone who may have information about the incident, to call 618-993-2124.
