A Murphysboro man is charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and possession of 20 to 50 cannabis plants after, police say, officers searched his house and discovered a pot-growing operation and electronic devices containing child porn.

According to a news release from the Murphysboro Police Department, Eric Emil Deutsch was arrested Nov. 16 after officers executed a search warrant at his residence and discovered an indoor cannabis grow operation. Officers found a "large quantity" of cannabis and the equipment to grow the plant. He was arrested and charged with the possession of 20 to 50 cannabis plants.

During the search, officers also found electronic devices suspected to contain evidence of child pornography, the news release states. The department further investigated the contents of the devices following the search, and this past Tuesday arrested Deutsch on 20 counts of possession of child pornography.

The investigation is the result of a collaboration between the Murphysboro Police Department and the National Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Jackson County sheriff's deputies also assisted.
