A Murphysboro man has been indicted on a weapons charge by U.S. Attorney Donald Boyce.
According to a Friday news release from Boyce’s office. Anthony I. Hunter, aka “Shug,” 29, of Murphysboro, was charged Dec. 5 by a one-count indictment with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to the release, the indictment alleges the incident took place Oct. 4, in Jackson County.
Hunter made his first court appearance Wednesday and is currently being held without bond pending a bond hearing Friday.
If guilty, the charge brings with it a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison followed by three years of mandatory supervised release, as well as a $25,000 fine.
