MURPHYSBORO - An early morning stabbing Tuesday in Murphysboro hospitalized one person, but no charges have been filed, according to Police Chief Jeff Bock.

Bock said it was unclear where the stabbing took place but noted it occurred either at 20th and Walnut Street or in the 1800 block of Pine Street.

Bock said two men were attacking another man when the man being attacked produced a blade and stabbed one of his attackers. Bock said the man who was stabbed was treated but no further information was available on his condition.

The case has been sent to the state's attorney's office for review, Bock said.
