CARBONDALE - A 30-year-old Carbondale man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to rob the Bank of Carbondale, police said.

Darrell L. Hendricks was still inside the bank armed with a knife, when officers got the call at 12:59 p.m. Officers arrived on scene and were able to subdue Hendricks without incident.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Hendricks is currently in the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Police are still investigating the incident. Officers were on scene at the bank, located at 216 E. Main Street Monday afternoon, interviewing witnesses and employees inside the facility at the time.
