WILLIAMSON COUNTY --  State troopers are investigating a fatal accident that occurred about 1 p.m. Thursday on eastbound Interstate 64 near mile post 71.5

State police said the driver of a Ford van crashed into the rear of a semitrailer driven by Roger Joseph Laughlin, 51 of Wright City, Mo. Laughlin was not injured.

Laughlin was stopped for work zone construction.

The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Chattanooga, Tenn., was taken by ambulance to Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon and then flown to Saint Louis University Hospital. That driver died of injuries suffered in the crash. The driver’s name was not released pending notification of family members.

Normal flow of traffic resumed about 4:45 p.m.
